I discovered my cat had ascites on August 31st last year, and by September, I learned there was also pleural effusion. I carried Mian Mian to four different hospitals and underwent countless tests. We administered injections for a month, and by September 28th, the fluid had disappeared. I thought we had overcome the illness, but that was just my hope.

At the beginning of this year, I noticed Mian Mian coughing, and I started giving her doxycycline. I would hide the pills in her favorite treats, and she would take them without fuss. However, on April 14th, I noticed her breathing heavily, and after another check-up, it turned out the pleural effusion had returned.

From April 14th to August 25th, we fought for four months. During that time, she had seven procedures to drain the fluid, took rutin, furosemide, and cephalosporins, and received numerous injections. Mian Mian, you endured so much suffering. I’m so sorry I couldn't save you. I wonder if you blame me for this.

Five years felt too short. I had promised you that you would be with me for a long time. I will always remember you. You will forever remain in my heart, but I can no longer find you. The pain of farewell may fade one day, but I will never forget you.
